The auction system that operates in saleyards is an important component of the Australian agriculture sector with transactions setting the current market benchmark in quality and price. Access conditions have changed in Australian saleyards We advise checking with your saleyard/agent regarding local access conditions prior to going to a saleyard. Vendors with livestock in the yarding may now attend saleyard sales - noting first preference admission for essential saleyard site staff, accredited livestock agents/agency staff and genuine buyers with true intention to purchase with vendors only allowed to attend if allowable within the social distancing and compliance with any local requirements. Livestock transporters will still be able to access saleyard facilities for the purposes of unloading and loading of livestock. All other individuals SHOULD NOT ATTEND the facility. On-ground systems and protocols are in place to manage attendance at saleyard sales in line with the above position.
